Ice skating in the desert may sound strange, but Las Vegas has several places where residents and visitors can cool off on the ice. Some rinks operate year-round for public skating, hockey and figure skating, while others are seasonal holiday attractions with lights, music and festive drinks.
Because admission fees, skate rental prices, public skate times and seasonal schedules change often, always check the rink’s current calendar before going. Public skate sessions can sell out, and some facilities require online registration or signed waivers before you arrive.
All of the ice rinks mentioned below offer public skating or seasonal skating opportunities. Here are the best places to go ice skating in Las Vegas.
City National Arena

You can find City National Arena across from Downtown Summerlin on South Pavilion Center Drive. This facility features two NHL-sized ice sheets for professional use, youth hockey, adult hockey, figure skating, lessons and public skating.
City National Arena is best known as the official practice facility of the Vegas Golden Knights. Fans may be able to watch practices when the schedule allows, and the venue is also home to The Arsenal, the official team store for Golden Knights merchandise.
The public can skate here during scheduled open skate sessions. Current open skate pricing is $10 for all guests regardless of age, $7 for military guests with valid ID, and $3 for skate rentals. Walkers are free and available on a first-come, first-served basis for skaters who need help on the ice.
Guests must sign up and pre-pay online before participating in open skate. Once you sign up, refunds are not issued, so check the date and time carefully before booking.

Hylo Park Arena

The former Fiesta Rancho Ice Arena / Pepsi Ice Arena has been rebranded as Hylo Park Arena. The surrounding Fiesta Rancho casino property permanently closed and was demolished, but the ice arena itself remains part of the local skating scene.
Hylo Park Arena is now tied to hockey and figure skating programs, including Vegas Golden Knights skating development. It offers open skate sessions, learn-to-skate programs, freestyle sessions and hockey-related activities.
Open skate rules are similar to City National Arena. You must sign up online beforehand, complete the electronic waiver and pre-pay for your open skate session. Skate rentals are available for $3 and can be purchased online when you register.
Because the arena is no longer part of an active casino resort, do not plan your visit around old Fiesta Rancho amenities. Check the current Hylo Park Arena schedule before heading to North Rancho Drive.
The Ice Rink at The Cosmopolitan

The Boulevard Pool at The Cosmopolitan has long been famous for transforming into a seasonal ice rink during the holidays, complete with real ice, fire pits, warm drinks, s’mores, holiday movies and Strip views.
However, this is a seasonal attraction and is not guaranteed to return every year. Older schedules, movie nights and New Year’s Eve packages from previous years should not be used for current planning.
When operating, the rink has traditionally offered around 4,200 square feet of real ice, all-day skating access, skate rentals, seasonal food and beverage offerings, light snow showers and special events. The rink is especially popular with couples, families and visitors who want a winter photo moment on the Strip.

Keen skaters can find the Rock Rink at Downtown Summerlin near the Pavilion on The Lawn. This is one of the best seasonal outdoor ice skating experiences in Las Vegas, especially for families who already plan to visit Downtown Summerlin for shopping, dining or holiday events.
The current season runs from November 7 through January 19. Standard hours are Monday through Thursday from 4pm to 9pm, Friday from 4pm to 10pm, Saturday from 10am to 10pm and Sunday from 11am to 8pm, with special holiday hours on select dates.
Rock Rink is known for its festive music, holiday lights and the large holiday tree overlooking the rink. The surrounding Downtown Summerlin area also adds restaurants, shops and seasonal entertainment, making it easy to turn a skate session into a full evening.
Skate rentals start at $18, and all ages are welcome. Tickets are time-based, and waivers may be required before receiving e-tickets.

Las Vegas Ice Center

Walkers are available for $5 for skaters who need help on the ice, and both hockey and figure skate rentals are available in a wide size range. Warm clothing is recommended, and gloves and helmets are recommended for young children.
Birthday parties can be scheduled during public skate sessions, and private ice may also be available for events. If you want a reliable year-round rink away from the Strip, Las Vegas Ice Center is one of the strongest choices.
America First Center

The City of Henderson and America First Center occasionally team up to offer free public skate events on select dates, but registration is required and spots can fill. Do not assume every public skate is free; check the current America First Center or City of Henderson event page before going.
America First Center is especially convenient if you are staying in Henderson, Green Valley, Lake Las Vegas or the southeast side of the valley.
